Trilobites lived in the oceans 521 million years ago. Extinct now, they are the ancient relatives of today’s crustaceans. Like today’s crustaceans, some trilobites were detritivores (cleaning up the bottom floor) while others were fierce predators. Today you can find trilobites fossils is shale formations throughout Utah.
